Puno

First of all, we have only really explored Puno for one day, and we actually stuck around the house a lot (there is a piano and a guitar in this Airbnb...) so I am sure there is a lot more to it than the few pictures we have here. Puno seems a lot poorer than Cusco, and not as colonial, and touristy. After Amantani we thought it would be cool to try to go swimming in Lake Titicaca, but, well.....this side of the Lake is not as nice...it is to be expected though, most bodies of water next to big cities are not clean.

We would not want to jump into these waters

Having said that, just like people there is always a nice side, here are a few parts of Puno we liked.

A small model of a Uros island in a little museum by the port

Puno port

These small ostriches are native to Lake Titicaca..Terran is posing for size comparison ;)

A replica of a sword at the Puno Naval museum

A cool cathedral by downtown Puno

Colorful plaza in Puno

A line up of women wearing traditional clothes outside the Peruvian Central Bank in Puno. I think these clothes are just beautiful...the picture is not great, I was trying to be sneaky about my picture taking

A step up from the moto taxi, a bike taxi....Terran wanted to take one so badly, but we did not want to give the driver a heart attack by having him pull our whole family...

Our next stop for a month will be....Arequipa

  1. It's so weird to me to see a Christmas tree with so much sunlight and no snow!! Haha! Maybe your white Christmas will include white beaches? Haha! Although, isn't Arequipa near mountains?
