For the last leg of our time here in Peru we will be in the town of Zorritos, we are around 1.5 hours from the border with Ecuador. It really pays to have connections, my mother found us a nice little house to stay in around 5 mins from the beach. It is clean, nice, with comfy beds, and a lot of moto taxis near by. If you are ever in Zorritos try to find a place with the Sanchez Family (no relation to my nieces and nephews), they are such accommodating, and nice people.

In case you are wondering why you have not heard from Wyatt lately when I asked him if he wanted to write a blog post his reply was "It is way too hot to be creative!" So there you go friends, you will hopefully hear from Wyatt and Maija when we hit colder climates ;).
A lot of people have asked where I am from, and few people actually know the answer (don't try to guess...), and although Zorritos is not my birthplace this is as close to my Peruvian roots as it gets. The kids says that it feels as though EVERYONE in this town is a "Tia" or "Primo." You see,my Grandfather and his siblings lived around this area, and between them all they had over 70 kids (my grandpa had over 20, and his brother had 48 kids....never mind the rest of his siblings.....those guys really needed cable,or some other form of entertainment!), so chances are most people we meet here are related to us.
Last time I visited Zorritos I am pretty sure I was younger than Terran, and so there are very few people I remember, but this lady below is pretty important to our family. She was with my Grandpa Lama until he died. It was great to see her, and reconnect with her.....when she met the kids, she told them how I used to walk like a hen as child, always on my tiptoes, and how she too breastfed me....awkward!

The kids have A LOT of cousins around, but my Olson kids are still a little too shy to venture out on their own to play with the kids around here, here are a few of "the gang"...I think most of them belong to my Tio Cruche.

I am finally getting used to the hot weather (I'm sorry about my earlier whiny post), and it is great to be able to swim in the ocean every day! I love warm ocean water! I am sorry to report that homeschooling has been thrown out the window for the time, "It is also too hot for school!" So for now, our days are spend walking, reading, and going to the beach!
Here are a few more photos of Zorritos....

Such amazing fun. You are missing the extreme cold! Enjoy the beach.
ReplyDeleteWhen we were in Ecuador there was a man with a baseball hat on backwards. It said "kotex" we snickered at that and thought he probably has no idea what that is in north americA.
ReplyDeleteThose little crabs are the main reasons I didn't love the beach in Zorritos when we went :p
ReplyDeletePlease say Hi to la Chilena!!! She hasn't aged much in 20 years!! Isn't she a dear?! :)
