Suarez

My Mom lives in a VERY small town here in Peru called Suarez...maybe it is more of a hamlet?! cluster of homes? ...5 houses semi close together? anyway, everyone here refers to her place as "El Campo" or the country....also the google car has not made it here! It is a cute little home, and the vegetation around it looks like what I think Africa might look like.
Every morning we wake up to the sound of donkeys, chickens, and goats. I keep telling Wyatt that out time here in the north of Peru is the most "authentically Peruvian." ...aka...100% Legit!
I am so very grateful for the chance to see my Mother's land, she talks about it all the time back in Canada, and I never thought I would get the opportunity to see it with my very own eyes! ...enjoy the photos, I make no apology for all the goat pictures.....

A sunset from my Mom's home

If Terran could have his way he would travel via Moto Taxi everywhere, and take this furry friend home with him back to Canada...
Terran's Peruvian BFF "Sisi." Sisi hangs around my Mom's home, and gets fed there...Aka, she is sort of my Mom's dog these days

A view of my Mom's home

The area has not had a lot of rain lately

A lonely goat

My Mom's little plot of land

A lime tree, Wyatt is becoming very Peruvian in his lime consumption.. He has them with everything!

Cherries from my Mom's land

My Mom's coconut tress

Acacia tree in my Mother's plot of land

You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friend's nose....you CAN pick your coconut!

Terran's favorite mode of transportation the Moto Taxi. He wishes he could start this trend in Calgary....a Moto taxi with -37 weather....not a good idea!

Maija and Terran's ride

Peruvian cows always look pretty skinny....we call them Johnny Lingo cows.

More skinny cows.....

Monica and Maija inside Lita's house with a big bunch of "guineos"

There were a bunch of little geckos everywhere. They are harmless, and they eat other not so harmless things...

This little creepy guy was in our bed....He was small though only about an inch.

Goats, goats, goats!
We would have loved to stay with my Mother for our entire stay in the north, but Wyatt needs internet to stay connected with work, so we only occasionally will come up to visit. My Mom found us a nice little place close to the ocean in Zorritos where you can get more than one bar on your phone. Good Bye Suarez

Comments

  1. My mom must be so happy that her favorite daughter (wink) and her grandchildren got to see the land and spend time in the house.
I loved the pictures and in particular, the sunset picture!
    The house looks beautiful.
Where are you staying in Zorritos?

  2. I think Lita will have new favourites. ;p I can't wait to hear more stories about the land from someone else's point of view :) I'm slightly jealous.
