On Saturday we went looking for the Loja Botanical Gardens, we thought it would be simple enough, but of course we got a little lost, followed a wrong path, and instead found this really cool hiking path. It reminded me of Fish Creek Park back home. Although you are still inside the city it felt like you are in the middle of nowhere. We totally want to try this city hike again, next time with snacks, and water along...oops.

Terran and Maija at the beginning of the path |
It turns out this path, if continued for another 40 km, would leads us to the neighboring city of Vilcabamba. I know I must sound like a broken record, but I love how green Ecuador is! Here are a few more pictures of our day....

The path followed the Vilcabamba river |
|
Saw this little guy in our path |
After what the kids called "A SUPER L O N G walk" we went to a cafe near our home, and had some yummy Ecuadorian food.
|
Tamal de pollo with a hot chocolate for Wyatt, and a Yuca Empanada for Maija |
|
Empanada de Verde for Terran and a Bolon de Verde for me |
|
The best part was dessert...Brazo Gitano, kind of like a Yule Log but with peaches, and strawberries on top! |
Sometimes a wrong path, is the best path!
Brazo gitano se ve muy rico!!
