Bohemian Rapsody.... in Ecuador
Loja has been our concert city, almost every night we have enjoyed classical, Latin, Pasillos, folklore.... well a plethora of music genres. But last night's concert just blew me away. A few days ago we purchased tickets to a Queen tribute concert, we figured $10/person for a concert you can't go wrong...and it did not disappoint!
So far most of the concerts we have attended have been at small cultural centers, churches, or outdoors. This particular one was in an actual concert theater, El Teatro Bolivar de Loja. The venue dates back to the 1920's and it had a similar feel to the theater we went to in New York when we saw Phantom (words I never thought I would say!).

The concert was advertised as follow: Antonio Guerrero (the evening's lead singer) indicates that the concert is of high quality and works with the aim of presenting an event that is as close to the classic shows that the band Queen presented. The event includes a band of first-class Lojano musicians and guest artists such as Marco Cherrez (Saxophonist) and Omid Foorotan (singer).
It turns out Antonio Guerrero, the lead singer of the show, was a former winner of "La Voz Ecuador" basically Ecuador's version of "American Idol" It was a blast listening to Crazy Little thing called Love, Another One Bites the Dust, and of course Bohemian Rapsody.
I feel incredible grateful for the chance we are having as a family to spend this time in Peru and Ecuador. Last night as we were sitting in the theater waiting for the concert to start Wyatt and I were both marvelling at all the things we have seen and done in the last four and half months....we are really lucky people...sorry I don't mean to sound braggy, I am just overwhelmed by how cool this experience has been so far.
The singers sounded just like the real thing, the guitarist was INSANE! Here is a little taste of last night's show.....hasta pronto queridos.
