The Allen Family
Our first Sunday here in Loja we met the Allen family from Arizona. It was really cool to find kindred spirits in our travels. The Allens have been travelling for around the same time we have, our kids were so excited to meet people around their age, with similar experiences, and with whom they could actually talk to! I wanted to write about them in our blog, they are such a sweet group of people whom I do not want to forget.
Monica, Maija, Talia, Terran, Lindi, Heidi, Broden, Goldie, Millie, and Craig (Wyatt took the photo). |
As a family we are actually pretty reserved, so I am always thankful to meet people that are open, fun, welcoming, and friendly, and the Allens definitely meet all those characteristics. In the last few months the Allens have travelled to Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Brazil, and now Ecuador, and they are planning on staying here for 6 months to a year! The Allens were an answer to my prayers, our kids come along to all our shenanigans, but I know that one of the things they miss most is friendships. The Allens were so kind to have us over for dinner, and our kids played really well together, it was fun to chat about our unique experiences, and compared notes a little bit about them.
We also managed to do a small family hike on Monday night , along that hiking path in Loja I wrote about earlier, and our kids had a blast with them, their kids are chatty, and sweet. After making them walk for like 1000000 kms the plan was to share our favourite Panaderia in Loja with them, but unfortunately they were all out of Brazo Gitano, so hopefully they will get to try it out another day.
And to the Allens if they ever read this, thank you for the amazing tacos, and safe travels!
